Dr. Rubin graduated from Barnard College in 1991 and obtained her medical degree from Columbia University's College of P&S in 1995. She went on to do her medical residency and Endocrine Fellowship at Columbia University. She subsequently joined the faculty of Columbia University's Endocrine Division in 2002 as a member of the Metabolic Bone Diseases Unit. In 2006 she completed a Master's degree in statistics at the Mailman School of Public Health and in 2008 she became an Irving Scholar. She has published extensively in the metabolic bone disease field, co-authoring 31 original papers and receiving grant support from the NIH and the FDA. One of her research focuses is the treatment of hypoparathyroidism, a rare endocrine disorder. Her work in this field contributed to the recent FDA approval of a new treatment for hypoparathyroid patients.
